    Repatriation Flight - Helping Australian's return home

    Update for Australians in Canada: The Australian Government is working with Qantas to help bring Australians home. A special flight will operate from Vancouver to Darwin on 25 March 2021. You MUST register here to receive information about this flight.

    DanceHouse Speaking session – Future Memory: Session 2


    DanceHouse’s new online series Speaking of Dance focuses the spotlight on the exceptional artists who have previously presented work on the DanceHouse stage. We will ask each of our alumni artists the same questions, centred around upcoming creative practice and projects, as well as their individual perspectives and histories. Utilizing the theme of future works is intended both as a protest against the uncertainty of our times, as well as a call to creativity and the importance of hope. Join here.

    On Feb 3rd, we celebrated our Annual Waitangi Day/ Australia Day. This year, like events in 2020 meant it had to be virtual.  This didn't stop many of us having a toast to the Motherland and enjoying the updates from the High Commissioners.

    Speaking of Dance - Virtual Theatre – Future Memory

    DanceHouse’s new online series ‘Speaking of Dance’ focuses the spotlight on the exceptional artists who have previously presented work on the DanceHouse stage. On November 26, 2020 11am-12pm, each alumni artist will share a 10 minute video presentation about their inspirations and plans for the future. The first session will feature Australian indigenous performer, Jacob Boehme, who performed his critically acclaimed and award-winning solo work ‘Blood on the Dance Floor’ last year at DanceHouse.     Treasurer Josh Frydenberg presented his Budget to Parliament on Tuesday the 6th October 2020. The Budget is normally presented to Parliament on the second Tuesday in May each year, but as with so many things in 2020, it was postponed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic causing massive financial and physical disruptions.

    In submitting this budget, we gain a full insight into the real financial impact that Covid-19 has had on the Australian economy and Government finances, not just this year but for many years to come.

    Due to COVID-19 the New Zealand Consulate, Vancouver will not be doing in-person or postal voting. There are 3 easy steps to voting in the 2020 general election and referendums:

    • Before the election, update your enrolment details here.
    • From Wednesday 30 September (NZ time), download and complete your voting papers here.
    • Upload your completed voting papers here, by 7pm Saturday 17 October (NZ time). Your voting papers will include full information on how to return them.

    “Navitas, an Australian-based education provider, announced a ten year partnership with Ryerson University in Toronto and the establishment of Ryerson University International College (RUIC). The college will provide a pathway program for international students into Ryerson. This is Navitas’s third college in Canada, joining Fraser International College (Simon Fraser University) in Vancouver and the International College of Manitoba (University of Manitoba) in Winnipeg which together welcomed more than 3,000 new international students from 90 countries in 2019.
