I hope you all had an enjoyable summer.
We recently sadly said goodbye to Nick Fleming, Trade Commissioner & Consul General for New Zealand, but in doing so are happy to welcome his replacement Matt Ritchie! Matt joined NZTE in 2005 and has held several senior management roles. He has previously served as a Trade Commissioner based in Kuala Lumpur, overseeing NZTE's activities in Malaysia and Brunei. Most recently, Matt worked as a Customer Director, where he was responsible for early stage exporters and increasing the number of customers working with NZTE, and leading a team of Customer Advisors.
Before joining NZTE, Matt led teams in the information technology, media and logistics industries in New Zealand and the UK. Welcome Matt, we are looking forward to continuing our partnership with you and NZTE.
Since our last update we've hosted two very successful events: Xero, a start-up from New Zealand told us how they have risen to success in Canada. David Gelb, Global Head, R&D at KPMG in Melbourne, spoke about how Canadian businesses can take advantage of R&D incentives in Australia and New Zealand.
I’m sure all CANZBA members will join me in congratulating Kevin Lamb, Australian Consul (Honorary) & Trade Commissioner for being recognized as an Honorary Member (AM) in the General Division, Order of Australia. This is a well-deserved award for his many years of contribution to the Australian community in Vancouver and for his tireless work in promoting trade between Canada and Australia. Kevin has also been a keen supporter of CANZBA and has served on our Board since our launch in 2001.
